General Instructions

Choose your state from the list below to access detailed instructions for both business and personal tax extensions.

Corporation and partnership tax returns are due by April 15 — or by the 15th day of the 4th month following the end of the taxable year (for fiscal year filers).

Utah offers a 6-month extension, which moves the business filing deadline to October 15 (for calendar year filers).

There is no Utah extension application or written request to submit. As long as your Utah tax is properly paid on time, you can automatically receive a Utah tax extension.

An extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay. If you owe Utah tax, it must be paid by the original due date, or penalties and interest will apply. In order to get a Utah extension, you must pay either 90% of the current year’s tax balance or 100% of the prior year’s tax balance. You can make a Utah extension payment with Form TC-559, or pay electronically through the Utah’s Taxpayer Access Point (TAP).
