General Instructions

Choose your state from the list below to access detailed instructions for both business and personal tax extensions.

Corporation tax returns are due by March 15 — or by the 15th day of the 3rd month following the end of the taxable year (for fiscal year filers).

Minnesota offers a 7-month extension, which moves the filing deadline to October 15 (for calendar year filers).

Minnesota business extensions are automatic, which means there is no written request or application to submit.

An extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay. If you owe Minnesota tax, it must be paid by the original due date, or interest and penalties will be charged. You can make a Minnesota extension payment with Form PV80, or pay electronically using Minnesota’s e-Services portal: https://www.revenue.state.mn.us/make-payment

If you owe zero Minnesota tax (or you fully pay your Minnesota tax balance by the original deadline), you will automatically receive a Minnesota tax extension.
