State of Utah Personal Income Tax Extensions – Tax Year 2009

 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
The State of Utah will automatically grant you a 6 month tax extension. However, if you need to make a state tax payment you need to submit Utah Form TC-546 (PDF) .

If you do not need to make a tax payment and have received an approval notification from FileLater, there’s nothing more to do.

You automatically have a six month extension to file your Utah income tax return - not to pay your taxes. If your tax payments do not equal at least the lesser of 90 percent if your current year tax liability or 100 percent of your previous year tax liability, a penalty of 2 percent of the unpaid tax will be assessed for each month of the extension period.

For additional information, please visit the State of Utah Tax Commission website.
