State of Mississippi Personal Income Tax Extensions – Tax Year 2010

 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

The State of Mississippi will automatically grant you a 6-month tax extension if you successfully submit a federal income tax extension. If, however, you need to make a state tax payment you will need to submit Mississippi Form 80-180 (PDF).

If you do not need to make a tax payment and have received an approval notification from FileLater, there’s nothing more to do. Be sure to include a copy of your federal extension form (IRS Tax Form 4868 ) when you submit your Mississippi state tax return.

Filing for a Mississippi tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by the original filing deadline, or interest and other payment penalties may apply.

For additional information, please visit the State of Mississippi State Tax Commission website.
