State of Georgia Personal Income Tax Extensions – Tax Year 2009

 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
The State of Georgia will automatically grant you a 6-month state tax extension if you were approved for a federal tax extension. Extensions of time for filing may be granted in cases of sickness, absence, or other disability or whenever reasonable cause exists by filing Form IT-303 (PDF).

Filing a Georgia tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by April 15 or interest and other payment penalties may apply. Please use Form IT-560 (PDF) to make any tax payments.

Make sure to attach a copy of your federal extension to your tax return when filed or a state extension will not be granted.

For additional information, please visit the State of Georgia Department of Revenue website.
