State of Nebraska Personal Income Tax Extensions – Tax Year 2009
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
|
The State of Nebraska will automatically grant you a 6 month tax extension if you were approved for a federal tax extension and have no outstanding tax payments due. However, you will need to submit Nebraska Form 4868N (PDF) if you need to make a state tax payment or were not approved for a federal tax extension.
Married couples who file separate returns must send separate applications if they both want an extension of time. Complete a separate Form 4868N for each taxpayer, because blanket extensions are not granted.
If you do not need to make a tax payment and have received an approval notification from FileLater, there’s nothing more to do. Be sure to attach a copy of your IRS 4868 Extension form to your tax return when filed.
Filing a Nebraska tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by April 15 or interest and other payment penalties may apply.
