GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
|
|
The District of Columbia requires that you file for a state business tax extension, regardless of whether you owe additional state income taxes or expect a state tax refund.
To apply for a tax extension from the District of Columbia, submit Form FR-128 (Extension of Time to File a DC Franchise or Partnership Return) to the Office of Tax and Revenue. As long as this form is completed accurately and on-time, a business will be granted an automatic six-month tax extension from their original filing deadline (typically March 15).
It’s important to note that obtaining a District of Columbia tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due. The tax owed must still be paid by the original filing deadline, or interest and other payment penalties may apply.
For additional information, please visit the District of Columbia: Office of Tax and Revenue website .
