State of Vermont Personal Income Tax Extensions – Tax Year 2009

 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
The State of Vermont will automatically grant you a 6 month tax extension if you have successfully filed a federal tax extension (Form 4868) and have no tax balance due. If, however, you need to make a state tax payment, you need to submit Vermont Form IN-151 (PDF) or make a payment with your credit card using VTPay (select the "Estimated Payment" option).

If you do not need to make a tax payment and have received an approval notification from FileLater, there’s nothing more to do. Be sure to attach a copy of your tax extension form to your state tax return when filed.

Filing for a Vermont tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by your original filing deadline or interest and other payment penalties may apply.

For additional information, please visit the State of Vermont Department of Taxes website.
