Tax Extension Center continues its series of The Top 100 Reasons to File a Tax Extension. This series is intended to show taxpayers that a tax extension is valuable because it saves individuals and/or their businesses time, stress, and even money.
Here’s reason #28: it’s FREE (for a limited time).
That’s right, for a limited time FileLater is offering free tax extension filing for both individuals and businesses. What’s better than free?
FileLater started offering free tax extensions on January 15. And I can tell you that so far a lot of people and a lot of businesses of all kinds (corporations, LLCs, estates, and more) have taken advantage of this great deal.
Remember, one of the great reasons to file a tax extension is to give yourself options. You can get an extension now and still file your taxes by the deadline. At least with the extension, you’ll have extra time just in case you need it.
Whether you are new to IRS extensions or file one every year, remember that a tax extension does not give you more time to pay what you owe the IRS. You still need to make your payment by midnight on April 15. An IRS extension gives you more time to file the necessary tax forms you’re supposed to file. Failing to make a payment could make you subject to penalties and interest.
